old town

It’s 50°F, breezy and gloomy. Yes I know it’s only 50° but it really feels like it’s in the low 30’s; however, that didn’t stop me from getting out and making my Saturday delightful. I decided to go to my town’s tourist spot, Old Town Sacramento (dragged my hubby w/ me). It’s quaint and charming, that’s what  I love most about this part of town. If you love to experience history, this is a place to visit. It has a lot of unique shops to walk through and some great places for extraordinary dining experience. If you hate shopping, there’s a railroad museum that you can visit to and take a ride of the steam train that runs along the Sacramento River.

The shops are so alive with colors. The Old City Kites is a very fun place for kids to go. That coat on the upper right side made me really excited until I saw the price 🙂

I wouldn’t miss Evangeline’s Costume Mansion everytime I visit Old Sac. They not only carry costumes but they have weird and unique stuff that you may not find anywhere else. These mugs are too cool but since I promised myself not to spend too much, I found my will power to be too strong to resist these temptations (for now 🙂 ). I was almost tempted to get those fluffy slippers though. Don’t they look comfy?

My husband took pictures of these humorous fridge magnets. He said those were made for me LOL. By the way, the third one says, “if only men are satisfying as shopping for shoes”. Wouldn’t you agree? 🙂

We proceeded to Fat City Bar and Cafe for lunch. This restaurant serves great food and has an old ambiance that’s very charming. The brick wall, stained glass and high ceilings bring old elegance feel to the place. The best part? I was given a free slice of banana lemon pie (to die for) for my birthday (supposedly) which was 2 weeks ago (that was nice of them).

Of course, I wasn’t going to leave without being sugared up :). This place ( I forgot the name), sells all kinds of goodies. They have a wide variety of brittle. I ordered half a pound of macadamia brittle for $16.00/ lb. More than what I wanted to pay.

This is how a sugared up face looks like- smile from cheek to cheek 🙂

We stopped by The Village Hat Shop and I found this colorful and cool hat (above). I don’t know if I should go back for it or not.

I picked this hat instead. I don’t know why but I always end up getting something safe. I guess I’m not that adventurous when it comes to colors (yet).

Overall, it was a fun experience. It’s a great place to spend time with family and friends.

What I’m wearing:
